“More than just a home… and more than just care…”
At Headway, we believe in a holistic but targeted approach in order to best meet the needs and objectives of children.
We ensure an environment that is safe, secure and stable and where children can be their true, authentic selves in order to fully unlock their ambitions and aspirations.
Our Values
-
Compassion
We believe compassion in a child's need is the central tenet to any care home. We entrench this value and ensure it is this value which is at the heart of everything that we do.
-
Collaboration
We believe working in teams and groups brings the best out of people. We ensure strong and friendly collaboration at all levels, from management to staff to the children we care for.
-
Proactivity
"A care home must be stable, but it must not stand still" – we actively seek ways to continually improve our methods. We conduct research, engagement, and feedback from all stakeholders to ensure the service we provide is the best that it can be.
ESG
We encourage ESG both operationally and culturally. This means that the way we operate our homes needs to meet the ESG criteria but we also ensure our children understand the important of tomorrow’s planet and how their actions can impact its future.
That is why we ensure the following principles in all aspects of our practice and approach:
Environment
We know how lucky we are to live on this beautiful planet. But unfortunately our practices has put its future in danger. To ensure we do our part to protect it, we encourage a culture of environmental consciousness. Below are some of our practices in order to achieve this:
We ensure our suppliers are taking active steps to reduce their carbon footprint
We group all of our deliveries in order to reduce carbon emissions
We have a strong recycling initiative and where possible, purchase high quality recycled items
Reduce carbon emissions by ensure LED lights in our care homes, energy efficient appliances, and electric cars to carry on our care service
Encourage a culture of sustainability among our staff and children
Social
We know we are an employer who is an active institution of society, and so we have a responsibility to have a positive impact on those around us. As a result we ensure the following:
Ensuring our properties are safe, secure and stable places for both residents and neighbours
Routinely provide health and safety training to employees
Have a continuous feedback and development culture where employees don’t just feel like they are doing a job, but are part of the fabric of our service
Supporting local businesses in the community within which we operate
Maintain good relations with our neighbours regularly listening to their feedback and any concerns they may have
Where possible and appropriate, recruit local residents
Governance
We believe in transparent and ethical corporate behaviour, and that is why we follow the below principles:
Encourage a culture of strong, proactive compliance with internal policies and procedures
Undertaking ethical and transparent business practice
Ensuring our leaders and staff are aware of their responsibilities and are transparent in their work
Accurate, honest and timely reporting to our regulators
Partnering with responsible suppliers and partners who similarly hold compliance and ethics in high regard
Maintain strong, proactive and transparent relationships with local authorities
